  • How much does it cost to stay at Balmaghie?

This depends on the number of (human) guests in the lodge.

  • Do these prices change in the high season or school holiday periods?

No. These prices apply at all times of the year.

  • How many dogs can I bring?

There is no limit. We’ve had up to 12 dogs staying with their owners, but you can bring as many as you own at no extra charge!

  • Can the dogs stay in the lodges?

Yes, they can and the lodges have 6ft fences around them (either panel fencing or deer fencing) to ensure that your dogs are free to roam around the garden space outside too.

  • Is the 18-acre woodland for our sole use?

Yes. When you enter the woodland and for the time you are in it with your dogs, it is for your sole use. You can padlock the gate when you go in. There are three lodges in total and the woodland is available for all Balmaghie guests to use on this basis.

  • Is the woodland totally fenced?

Yes, your dog(s) are totally safe and enclosed, free to roam around off the leash. The woodland's surrounded by 6ft-high fencing.

  • Do I need to bring bedding, towels or crockery and cutlery?

No, this is all provided. Just bring you and your dog(s)!

  • Are you open all year round?

Yes.  Please call us to check availability.

  • What are the check-in times?

Check-in on the day of arrival is 3pm.

  • What are the check-out times?

Check-out is 10am on the day of departure.

  • If we're going out for the day to somewhere we can't take our dogs, can we leave them at the lodge?

Yes. We’ll take care of your dogs while you're away at no extra charge.

'We didn't want to leave'
“This is an amazing place. So peaceful and brilliant for dogs with the secure fenced area around lodge and the enclosed woods which you can have to yourself. Hosts make you feel like family. We didn't want to leave.” Lesley Chapman, Tow Law, County Durham. March 17th, 2019
